Hey my name is Tawnya. People say I “KILL IT” on my piece of wood with metal and urethane wheels. I simply smile and say thank you (:

I’m originally from Maine. Been living in Colorado since October 2009. I’ve been skating since I was 9. That is when I started devoting every waking minute to skateboarding; it soon became a drug for which I grew an addiction for. Skateboarding will always be more than just a sport or an “act of rebellion” towards society; it’s a way of life. The culture of skateboarding has helped me learn and educate myself to become a better person by teaching patience, motivation, determination, and the overcoming of what physical and emotional pain had felt like. All these characteristics are examples of what we experience in life itself. I am very thankful for that day I was first introduced to a piece of wood with wheels attached to it. I can only imagine that without skateboarding as a major focus in my life, I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.
